“Color Your World” Party

I earlier this week I had a party for some of the young girls from my neighborhood. The theme was “Color Your World.” It was full of bright fun colors, they loved it! I found some things in Target’s Dollar Spot that were perfect for the party.
Here’s what I found:
- Easels (big and little)
- Sprinkles
- Rainbow boxes
- Bakers twine
- Mini gel pens
I used the cute chalkboards as easels to display pictures rather than writing on them with chalk. I love that they are versatile and can be used over and over for so many different things. I put those on the table with the food and at the entry table.
The food table turned out super fun. I totally forgot to take a picture with the food on it, just imagine all of the yummy fruit and cookies there. We had cookie “canvases” the girls could each color their own canvas with fruit and sprinkles. The rainbow boxes from the Dollar Spot worked great for utensils.
We had a pretty small budget for decor, so I was looking for ideas that would be inexpensive but add a lot of color. The poms and paper chains were perfect. Both of them were super inexpensive and easy to make. The chains are just like the ones you made in first grade, cut strips of paper, loop it inside the previous link and lap to the two ends one on top of the other and staple. I had some of the girls help make these, they had fun helping.
I love the poms in the background. I was lucky enough to borrow these ones from a friend but I will explain how to make them so you can add some fun color to your next party. They are super simple. You take several layers of tissue paper, the regular kind for wrapping presents and fan fold all of the pieces at once until you reach the end. The more layers you have the fluffier it will be. These ones had about 8 sheets. Tie the center with string or a twist tie. If you want a scalloped, or jagged edge cut through all the layers at once and shape the ends how you want. Gently pull one layer out at a time until it is nice and fluffy. To make the centerpieces glue a dowel into the pom and place in a jar, vase, a little bucket from the Dollar Spot would also by fun. Fill your container with rocks.
To hang them from the ceiling; tie a string or fishing line around the center and use a push pin or tack to attach it. They are super easy to make and they add a big impact with minimal expense.
We had a great turnout, about 35 people. Everyone loved the fun colors and the good food. When the party was over each girl took home a notepad with a mini gel pen tied with bakers twine.
I hope these ideas will inspire you to add some color to your next party!
