Christmas Gift Tags with Kwik Stix (mess-free painting)

My family has been having fun creating with the Kwik Stix paint sticks and now we are using them to make some Christmas tags for our gifts.  I love to add a homemade touch to our wrapped gifts and my kids love to get crafty, so we combined the two.   If you haven’t yet heard about the Kwik Stix, the non-toxic Tempera Paint Sticks you are missing out.   They are so much fun and mess-free!

With the the Kwik Stix you can start painting right away, there is nothing that needs setting up.  No need to bring out messy paint cups, brushes or water.   Painting with the Kwik Stix is simple, you just uncap, twist, and paint!  You will find that Kwik Stix work great on number of different surfaces like paper, posterboard, cardboard, wood, and canvas.  You can find Kwik Stix at Target, both in-store and online.

Potato stamping

For the tag with the trees we made a potato stamp (I totally remember making these as a kid).  The tree is a simple image to cut out and spreading the paint on the image is super easy with the Kwik Stix.  It’s so much easier than dipping them in paint.

I stamped the tree with the Classic Green Kwik Stix and then use the Metalix Green Kwik Stix in the middle.  The Metalix Kwik Stix are perfect for the tags because they add a little shimmer.

To create the wreath we just drew a circle on the tag in green and then dotted a few berries on the tag with red.   One of my favorite features about the Kwik Stix is their quick drying time .  The Kwik Stix paint dries in 90 seconds!   No waiting hours for paint to dry, it only takes a minute and 1/2.   We didn’t have to wait a long time to add the berries to the wreath, so we were able to complete the tag super quick.

Christmas lights tag

We created a fun Christmas light pattern by drawing a black line that swirled and curved and then added the bulbs with the Kwik Stix in bright fun colors.

Stocking stuffer ideas

I think the Kwik Stix would make an excellent stocking stuffer for your kiddos!   We always add in some craft items in our kids stockings because we know they’ll get used.   Next time  you stop by Target pick up a pack or two for your kids stockings.

You will find the Kwik Stix located on the craft and coloring aisle at your local Target store.   The come in 6-packs of either Classic or Metalix colors and retail for $4.99 (prices may vary).   The Kwik Stix are currently sold out at Target.com so make sure you pick up the Kwik Stix next time you head to Target.

Make sure you also check out the Christmas ornaments we made using Kwik Stix.
