You can take old jars and turn them into fun treat jars that will look great sitting on your counter top. I made these jars for my dog’s treats, but you can just as easily use them for human treats or storage jars in your bathroom too.
We like to keep our dog treats on the counter, so I made these cute jars that compliment my decor. The jars were super easy to make and you can easily customize them to get any look you want. We filled our treat jars with the new Milk-Bone Puffs light & crunchy dog treats.
You can get the new Milk-Bone Puffs treats at Target and through 6/23 you can save 25% with Cartwheel. You’ll find the right sized treat for your dog, because the Milk-Bone Puffs come in a mini and medium size. The mini size is perfect for our Miniature Schnauzer, a lot of times dog treats are too big for her. These treats are the perfect size! The mini size treats are only 4 calories per treat, and the medium size are just 10 calories per treat. Milk-Bone Puffs come in Chicken & Cheddar flavors and Bacon & Peanut Butter flavors.
If you want to make storage jars for you dog treats too, we’ve got a couple ideas for you.
Supplies needed:
- Glass jars with lids
- Decorative Knobs
- Paint
- Drill
You can use any kind of misc jars for this project. I think pickle and spaghetti sauce jars work great. Remove labels and wash jars and lids.
Drill a hole in the center of the metal lid.
Paint lids. You can use a can of spray paint or acrylic paint, both work well. Finish off with a clear top coat spray so the paint won’t chip.
Once the paint is dry, you can attach your knobs to the lids. You can find knobs at Target in their home department, at your local home improvement or craft store. These knobs were purchased at Hobby Lobby.
You are done! It’s such a quick and easy project. I love how you can coordinate the jars to match the color in your home or even for specific holidays.
Use the jars to store you dog treats so you’ll always have them handy to reward your dog when she does something good. The Milk-Bone Puffs are light-as-air puffed snacks, it’s a treat you can feel good about giving your dog anytime.
We’ve got another fun option to store your Milk-Bone Dog treats. Find a canister that will look great sitting on your counter top. It can be glass, wood, or even plastic.
Supplies needed:
- Vinyl letters or stickers
- Jar or canister
Attach vinyl letters or stickers to the front. I chose a fun “Trick for Treat” saying and used my Cricut to cut out the vinyl letters, but stickers would work just as well. You can also choose to put your dog’s name on the front or use any saying you want. Get creative!
The lid for my canister didn’t have a knob and it made it hard to get off, since this is a jar we’ll reach into on a daily basis I wanted it to open easily. I picked up some knobs at Target (on clearance of course) and used one of them to attach to the top of the canister by drilling a hole in the wooden lid.
I attached the knob to the lid and the project was done. I like how the knob matches the letters on the jar and it ties it all together.
Ta da! The finished product. I am very happy with how this one turned out. I really do like the convenience of having the treats out on the kitchen counter. It saves me from having to search the pantry for our dogs treats. It also ensures that they stay fresh because the children in our house, don’t always zip the bag closed. Does that happen at your house too?
My dog is loving the Milk-Bone Puffs dog treats and I am loving how low they are in calories. These are the medium size Milk-Bone Puffs in the Chicken & Cheddar flavor. It’s the perfect week to pick up a bag or two at Target. We’ve got a scenario where you can pick up a bag for less than $1.00! Get all the details below.
